Also known as automatic doors. Doors that open and close automatically using electricity, air pressure, or hydraulics. They are installed at the entrances of buildings with a lot of people coming and going, such as hotels and buildings, and come in sliding, swinging, and revolving types. There are many types, from basic types such as mat switch types that are activated by the weight of the person who steps on them and photocell types that are activated by blocking the optical system, to types that use microwaves, types that are activated by changes in capacitance, and loop coil types that detect large objects such as automobiles. In addition, operation methods include contact, pushing, and pulling with a person's hand or foot, wireless operation, operation linked to an intercom, and operation by reading a magnetic card.

自動扉とも。電動または空気圧や油圧により自動的に開閉する扉で，ホテルやビル等人の出入の多い建物の出入口に設けられ，引戸，開戸，回転扉などがある。形式には，踏んだ人の体重で作動するマットスイッチ式，光学系をさえぎることにより作動する光電管式の基本的なものから，マイクロ波を使用するもの，静電容量の変化で作動するもの，自動車など大きな物体を検知するループコイル式など多数がある。また，操作方式には，人の手足に接触，押す，引く方式から，無線操作，インターホンとの連動操作，磁気カード読取操作などがある。
