Kinixys

...Turtles with hinged plastrons include the North American box turtle Terrapene and the South Asian box turtle Cuora , as well as the Yaeyama box turtle C. flavomarginata . The African box turtle Kinixys has a hinged plastron at one point near the rear of the carapace, which bends to cover the gap at the rear of the carapace. The front gap is closed by stiff forelimbs, but all land turtles close the gap in the carapace with columnar limbs covered with dermal osteons.
