...A tectonic lake in the Great Rift Valley of Africa, with a surface elevation of 375m, an area of ​​7,100 km2 (the fifth largest in Africa), and a maximum depth of 73m. It is also called Lake Rudolf, because it was explored by Count Teleki of Austria in 1888 and named after the Crown Prince at the time. The Turkana people, a Niles-Hamitic pastoral people living around the lake, call it Basso Narok (black water).
