The two have been friends since elementary school, and in 1964, the song "Sound of Silence" from their first album became a hit, and in 1968, they became famous for singing "Mrs. Robinson," the theme song for the movie "The Graduate." Both of these songs were written and composed by Simon, and both the lyrics and the music are full of a delicate urban sensibility, and his talent as a singer-songwriter was highly praised. …
