One of the techniques for making Buddha statues. Also called "hammered statues." A Buddha statue is half-embossed on a thin copper plate, and many have gold leaf on the surface. The traditional theory was that a concave mold was used for the original model, but in recent years the theory that a convex mold is used to strike the copper plate from above to create a hammered Buddha statue has gained popularity. The "Golden Buddhism Buddha" excavated from Mount Nachi and kept at the Tokyo National Museum, and the "Bronze Nyorai Statue" kept at Shosoin are the prototypes of the extruded Buddha. Relics include the 1000 Buddhas in the "Tamamushi Zushi" kept at Horyu-ji Temple, the "Amida Triad" kept at the same temple, the "Eleven-Headed Kannon Statue" kept at Toshodaiji Temple, and the "Five Amida Statues" donated to Horyu-ji Temple.
