- A member of BIGBANG, a five-member hip-hop unit that Korean K-POP takes pride in. Vocalist. Other members are VI and D-LITE, who are vocalists, and G-DRAGON and TOP, who are rappers. All members are dancers, vocalists, and rappers, and they self-produce their own songs, lyrics, and beats. The origin of the group's name comes from the desire to bring about a new era in the music world, just like Big Bang, which means the big explosion that gave birth to the universe. They debuted in Korea in August 2006 with their "1st single album." They have both idol-like elements and talent, and have been called "a once-in-50-years talent" since their debut. Their singles "Uso" and "Saigo no Saree" in 2007 and "Haru Haru" in 2008 topped commercial music programs for eight consecutive weeks, and each song recorded 2 million downloads. In 2007, they monopolized the first and second places in album sales and swept all major music awards. They also won the Song of the Year award at the KM Music Festival, which is the equivalent of the Japanese Record Awards, and became a national star group. Since their debut in 2006, they have led the Korean music industry, winning 35 music awards.
