Also known as nystagmus. A condition in which the eyes move rhythmically. Depending on the direction, there are horizontal, vertical, rotational, and other types. Physiologically, it can occur when tracking a rapidly moving object or making vigorous rotational movements. Pathologically, it can occur due to disorders or diseases of the visual organs, labyrinth, brain, or related central nervous system. 眼球振盪(しんとう)とも。眼球が律動的にゆれ動く状態。方向により水平性,垂直性,回転性などの種類がある。生理的にも,急速に移動するものを追視したり,激しい回転運動をしたりすると起こる。病的には視器や迷路,脳,これに関連する中枢神経系の障害や疾患で起こる。この場合は律動的でない場合もあり,多くはめまいを伴う。
