[Poetic form]
Examples of poems in which the placement of rhythm is a factor in determining the poetic form include the aforementioned jueju in China, as well as regulated shi, and in the West, the terza rima, sonnet, and ballade. In the West, these poetic forms are supported by the concept of a stanza or strophe, which can be thought of as a kind of rhythmic unit consisting of multiple lines of poetry. Each stanza has rules for the placement of rhymes and the position of the refrain phrase.
