For example, there was an experiment conducted at the Dachau concentration camp by staff at the German Air Ministry's Institute of Aerospace Medicine on the effects of high pressure and low temperature on the human body. The person in charge of this experiment, Hubertus Strughold, later traveled to the United States and participated in various space medical research projects of the U.S. Air Force. In Japan, he was assigned to the Headquarters of the Kwantung Army's Epidemic Prevention and Water Supply Department (later Unit 731).
