synthetase

...also called synthetic enzyme or synthetase. A general term for enzymes that catalyze a reaction that forms a covalent bond between two molecules in conjunction with the decomposition of phosphate compounds, such as ATP (adenosine triphosphate) and, in special cases, GTP (guanosine triphosphate) and NAD (nicotinamide dinucleotide).
