In the second half of the 1920s, Norman Bel Geddes (1893-1958) and Walter Dorwin Teague (1883-1960) became independent industrial designers, and in 1937, the New Bauhaus was founded in Chicago under the direction of L. Moholy-Nagy and became the center of design education. After World War II, in the field of furniture, functionalist designs were created by European architects as well as George Nelson (1908-86) and C.
