Heterogametes - Heterogametes

When gametes combine in the reproduction of living organisms, if there are differences in their shape, size, or behavior, they are called heterogametes. This is the opposite of homogametes. The difference between these heterogametes is the difference in sex. A typical example is male sperm and female eggs, but in some algae, the relationship is determined by a relative relationship, and there are various stages between them.

生物の生殖において配偶子どうしが合体するとき、それらの形、大きさ、行動のうえで差がみられる場合、互いに異型配偶子であるという。同型配偶子の対語。これら異型配偶子どうしの差は性の相違にあたり、典型的な例としては雄性の精子と雌性の卵があげられるが、藻類などには相対的な関係で決まるものもあり、それらの間にはさまざまの段階がみられる。
