...In the 1930s, a group of writers (SI Witkiewicz, B. Schulz, W. Gombrowicz) emerged who were far removed from the traditions of Polish Romanticism and who viewed the grotesque as a principle for grasping reality, which was the most 20th-century. The proletarian novels of Leon Kruczkowski (1900-62) and Wasilewska (Wasilevskaja) were also characteristic of this period. The wave of the New Art Movement was a mixture of various ideas, and it arose in the 1920s as a movement mainly in poetry, theater, and art, collectively known as the avant-garde.
