Greek Revolution

…the Greek Revolution was a war of liberation for Greece from the Ottoman Empire fought between 1821 and 1829. It is also known as the Greek War of Independence. In the spring of 1821, the Etherian Uprising, which aimed to bring about a general uprising of the Balkan nations, was quickly put down by the Ottoman Turkish army, but the Etherian organization had already spread throughout Greece, and news of the uprising caused a great stir.
