Kiev (aircraft carrier)

The Soviet Navy rapidly expanded its power after the war, and in the late 1970s it transformed from a coastal defense navy into a major ocean-going navy. In 1967, it built the helicopter cruiser Moskva (approximately 16,500 tons), and in 1975 completed the V/STOL aircraft carrier Kiev (approximately 36,000 tons).
