Japanese: Japanese tiger prawn(英語表記)Japanesetigerprawn
Japanese tiger prawn

The Japanese tiger prawn is a species of sea lion that lives in the Indian Ocean, south of Hokkaido, and north of Australia. Its lifespan is usually about one year, after which it dies after laying eggs, but a very small number of them are thought to live for nearly two years. It is commonly known as the Japanese tiger prawn and is found in a wide range of habitats, from southern Hokkaido to northern Australia and the Indian Ocean.
[Aquaculture]
Previously, shrimp caught between August and October were used as seed shrimp and fed on small fish and clams, but in the 1960s, the technology to mass-raise larvae was established, making it possible to mass-raise shrimp entirely in land-based facilities.
