Tosa Shrine

Located in Ichinomiya, Kochi City, Kochi Prefecture. Ajisukitakahikone no Mikoto is enshrined here. In the Nihon Shoki, it appears as "Tosa no Okami" and has been called Tosa Takakamo Taisha and Takakamo Daimyojin since ancient times. In the Engishiki, the shrine is listed as a Myojin Taisha, and in 940 (Tenkei 3), it was ranked Shoichi. Tosa Ichinomiya. It is commonly called Shinane-sama. As the head shrine of Tosa Province, it was highly revered, especially by the military, and Chosokabe Motochika and Yamauchi Kazutoyo granted permission to rebuild the main hall, offering hall, and worship hall, and to acquire shrine land. In 1871 (Meiji 4), it was designated a National Shrine of Middle Rank. The annual festival is held on August 25th. The Ikomosai Festival is held from March 11th to 13th. The main hall, offering hall, worship hall, drum tower, and tower gate are all designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan. Treasures include an antique mirror, sword, Noh mask, and a catfish tail spear.

高知県高知市一の宮に鎮座。味鉏高彦根命(あじすきたかひこねのみこと)を祀(まつ)る。『日本書紀』に「土左大神(とさのおおかみ)」とみえ、古来より土佐高賀茂(たかかも)大社、高賀茂大明神とも称したという。『延喜式(えんぎしき)』神名帳には、名神(みょうじん)大社としてその名がみえ、940年(天慶3)には正一位となった。土佐一宮(いちのみや)。俗に志那禰(しなね)さまという。土佐国総鎮守として、とくに武門の崇敬厚く、長宗我部元親(ちょうそがべもとちか)や山内一豊(やまうちかずとよ)が、本殿、幣殿、拝殿の再興や社領を免許した。1871年(明治4)国幣中社に列した。例祭は8月25日。3月11日より13日まで斎籠祭(いこもさい)が行われる。本殿、幣殿、拝殿、鼓楼(ころう)、楼門は国の重要文化財。古鏡(こきょう)、太刀(たち)、能面、鯰尾(ねんび)の鉾(ほこ)などの宝物がある。
