…In 1367, Hans Fugger (1348-1409) left the nearby village of Graben to join the Augsburg Weavers' Group, and his son Jakob Fugger (c. 1407-69) traded textiles and spices with Venice. Jakob had seven sons and four daughters, and the youngest, Jakob II Fugger (1459-1525), entered the Church at an early age, but returned to secular life, learned business in Italy, and joined the family business to help his brother.
