isidia

...Soredia are loosely intertwined masses of mycelium and algal cells. Isidia and lobules are club- or spatula-shaped projections with a cortex, algal layer, and medulla. Rhizomes are collections of hyphae from the hypodermis on the underside of the lichen, which serve to anchor the lichen to the substrate, but do not develop vascular tissue.
