Obe-sho

Japanese: 大部荘 - おおべのしょう
Obe-sho

This manor was located near Ono City, Hyogo Prefecture. It was established in 1147 (Kyuan 3), but had been an ownerless wilderness for a long time, until it was given to Shunjobo Chogen, a monk who was engaged in the reconstruction and construction of Todaiji Temple, and in 1192 (Kenkyu 3), the boundaries were confirmed as Todaiji Temple land. Chogen established Jodo-ji Temple in Kiyotani-cho, Ono City, which is a branch temple of Harima, and is famous for its famous Daibutsu-style (Tenjiku-style) architecture. Famous incidents include the Obe Manor Uprising in Kyotoku in 1454 (Eijin 2), in which the nearby Shijimiho assistant manager, Tarumi Hanjo, was dismissed from his position as manager of the manor because he had not sent his annual tax to Todaiji Temple, and he led several hundred armed thugs into the manor.Famous incidents include the Obe Manor Uprising in Kyotoku in 1454 (Eijin 3), in which the manor's landlord and loan shark Gorozaemon was murdered by peasants from within and outside the manor.
