…After studying under Roscellinus and William of Champeaux, he went to Paris around 1108 to gather students and teach theology and philosophy (dialectics). It is well known that he had a love affair with Héloïse there. After giving birth to a child, Abelard sent her to a convent, and then castrated himself and entered the Abbey of Saint-Denis, where he died.
