According to the results of a follow-up study of over one million men and women conducted by G. Hammond in the United States from 1959 to 1965, the mortality rate from lung cancer for smokers who smoked 20 to 39 cigarettes a day was 15 times higher than that of non-smokers, and 19 times higher for those who smoked 40 or more cigarettes a day. The deeper the person's inhalation habit and the younger the age at which they started smoking, the higher their risk of developing lung cancer. ...
