Half-winged

…This is the origin of the name Hemiptera. The scientific name and the English name half-winged mean exactly the same thing. The most striking feature of this genus is the structure of its mouthparts, which are specialized for absorption. The needle-like mandibles and maxillae are housed in a groove on the back of the lower lip, which consists of several segments, forming a proboscis.
