1842‐1911 He is famous in the history of psychiatry as the only case of psychosis analyzed described by S. Freud, and as the case that provided material for Freud's theory of paranoia, which explains the relationship between delusions and homosexuality. Born in Leipzig, he studied law and became president of the Court of Appeal in Dresden, but at around the age of 50 he suffered from schizophrenia, and during a period of remission he wrote down his symptoms and published them as "The Experiences of a Neurotic Patient" (1903). Freud examined this from a psychoanalytic standpoint and published "Psychoanalytic Considerations on an Autobiographically Described Case of Paranoia" (1911).
