Osaka Spinning Company

Planned by Shibusawa Eiichi and others, Osaka Spinning was Japan's first steam-powered spinning company, founded in 1882 with Fujita Densaburo as president. At the time, the spinning industry was under government protection, but Osaka Spinning was established with purely private capital from former nobles and feudal lords. Managed by Yamabe Tsuyoshi, who had mastered British techniques, the company was equipped with 10,500 spindles from the start, and grew rapidly by leveraging large-scale facilities and day and night operations. It acquired and merged with Osaka Orimono in 1890 and Shiroishi Spinning Mill in 1907, and further merged with Mie Spinning, which had been launched as a 2,000-spindle spindle spindle under government protection in 1914, to become Toyo Spinning, a prestigious name in the spinning industry that continues to this day (commonly known as Toyobo).

渋沢栄一らの企画により，1882年藤田伝三郎を頭取として設立された日本最初の蒸気力紡績会社。当時の紡績業は政府の保護下にあったが，大阪紡績は旧公卿，藩主などの純民間資本で設立された。英国の技術を身に着けた山辺丈夫の経営により，設立当初から１万500錘を備え，大規模設備と昼夜操業をてことして急速に発展した。1890年大阪織布，1907年白石紡績所を買収・合併，さらに1914年，政府保護下の2000錘紡として発足した三重紡績と合併，東洋紡績となり，紡績業界の名門として現在に至る（通称名は東洋紡）。
