Feriae Latinae

...There is a legend that Romulus dedicated a temple to Jupiter in gratitude for his prayers and for preventing his allies from retreating during the battle with the Sabines, but it seems that the temple was actually built in the early 3rd century B.C. In addition, on Mount Albanus, southeast of Rome, there was a temple to Jupiter Latiaris, the patron god of the Latin League, and at the annual league festival, Feriae Latinae, a white cow was sacrificed and the meat was shared by representatives of the various cities. Jupiter, like Zeus, was also considered to have a sacred tree of oak and a sacred bird of eagle.
