As a meat breed, there are no particularly well-developed breeds, but almost all goats kept in Asia and Africa are used for meat, and in India there are breeds such as the Jamunapari and Etawa that are used for both milk and meat. Many people dislike goat meat because of its distinctive smell, but in Japan, goat dishes have been eaten in Okinawa and Nagasaki prefectures for a long time, and native goats (Tokara goat and Shiba goat (illustration)) have been raised for meat.
