The German words Ursünde and Erbsünde both mean original sin, but the former refers to the first sin, or fundamental sin, and the latter refers to sin inherited by heredity. The latter idea was clearly expressed in the Old Testament pseudepigrapha, the Fourth Book of Ezra.
