... The Japanese badger subspecies, M. m . anakuma , is found in Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu. It is also known as the Mami, Sasaguma, and Atsuguma. It is sometimes called the Mujina and is confused with the raccoon dog, but the raccoon dog, a member of the Canidae family, has thin limbs and can be distinguished at a glance.
