Ougishō - Ougishō

Japanese: 奥儀抄 - おうぎしょう

A theory on poetry from the late Heian period. Written by Fujiwara no Kiyosuke. Written between 1124 (Tenji 1) and 1144 (Ten'yo 1), it was first presented to Emperor Sutoku, and later, with additions, to Emperor Nijō. It consists of three volumes, with the first volume providing an overview of Rikugi (the Six Meanings) and Kahei (Poetry Disorders), while the second and third volumes provide commentary on difficult poetic language and also discuss poetry style. 40% of the commentary on poetic language is directed at poems in the Kokinshu, and the extensive research into various books, mainly Chinese classics, is characteristic of the work of the Rokujō Fujiwara family, a school of poetry.

平安後期の歌論。藤原清輔著。1124年(天治1)から44年(天養1)ごろに著され，はじめ崇徳天皇に，のちに増補して二条天皇に奉られた。3巻から成り，上巻には六義（りくぎ）や歌病（かへい∥うたのやまい）などについて総論的に述べ，中･下巻には難しい歌語を注釈し，歌体についても論及する。歌語の注釈は，《古今集》歌を対象とするものが40％を占め，漢籍を主体とする諸書を博捜した考証に，歌門たる六条藤家の著作らしい特色がある。
