...The German chemical company Bayer was the first to respond to this situation. Thanks to the efforts of its talented chemical engineer C. Duesberg (1861-1935), Bayer took the lead in establishing a research institute in 1891. Thus, Bayer hired talented people who had received sufficient academic training and even held degrees from universities and technical colleges throughout Germany, and had them carry out research.
