In 1906, Britain built the Dreadnought (17,900 tons) based on lessons learned from the Battle of Tsushima. This was called a Dreadnought-class battleship, and was considered an innovative battleship in that it adopted steam turbines to double its power output, increased the number of main guns, eliminated secondary guns, and placed turrets on the centerline of the ship as much as possible, allowing it to fire simultaneously from bow to stern and across the ship.
