drama

Japanese: drama
drama

...However, the scope of meaning differs between languages, and while in all languages, "spectator seat" becomes "theater," it is only in French that this word can simultaneously refer to "theater," "the totality of stage performances," and "the totality of a writer's plays." In addition, the Greek word drama (meaning action), which is as important as theatron in terms of Greek etymology and also expresses the whole with a part, broadly refers to stage performances with a plot and characters in English (i.e., theater), but in French, drame refers to the content of the work or to a genre of dramatism from the 19th century Romantic period onwards, which originated from the citizen theater advocated by Diderot in the 18th century (although the adjective dramatique can be used more broadly).
