…After the Russian Revolution, he abandoned poetry and devoted himself to prose as a writer of companion literature. Under the pen name Dzhim Dollar, he wrote detective novels such as Laurie Lane, the Metalworker (1925) and Miss Mend, or a Yankee in Petrograd (1926). He eventually gained official recognition as a Soviet writer with his novel The Central Hydroelectric Station (1930-31), which was about the construction of socialism in Armenia. He also wrote a biography of Lenin, The Ulyanovs (1938).…
