Tomiura [town] - Tomiura
A former town in Awa District, southern Chiba Prefecture. Facing the Uraga Channel, most of the area is hilly. The Uchibo Line runs through the town. It is famous as a major loquat producing area, on a par with Mogi in Nagasaki, and fruit and flower cultivation is thriving. The coast is part of Minamiboso Quasi-National Park. In March 2006, it merged with Toyama Town, Shirahama Town, Chikura Town, Maruyama Town, Wada Town, and Miyoshi Village in Awa District to become Minamiboso City. 25.69 km2 . 5,775 people (2003).
