Tomiura [town] - Tomiura

Japanese: 富浦[町] - とみうら

A former town in Awa District, southern Chiba Prefecture. Facing the Uraga Channel, most of the area is hilly. The Uchibo Line runs through the town. It is famous as a major loquat producing area, on a par with Mogi in Nagasaki, and fruit and flower cultivation is thriving. The coast is part of Minamiboso Quasi-National Park. In March 2006, it merged with Toyama Town, Shirahama Town, Chikura Town, Maruyama Town, Wada Town, and Miyoshi Village in Awa District to become Minamiboso City. 25.69 ^km2 . 5,775 people (2003).

千葉県南部，安房(あわ)郡の旧町。浦賀水道に面し，大部分が丘陵地。内房線が通じる。長崎市茂木と並ぶビワの大産地として有名で，果樹，花卉(かき)の栽培が盛ん。海岸は南房総国定公園の一部。2006年３月，安房郡富山町，白浜町，千倉町，丸山町，和田町，三芳村と合併し市制，南房総市となる。25.69km²。5775人（2003）。
