The confession of a boy

...Musset's poetry took on an inner depth from this point on, producing many masterpieces, including "May Night" and three other nocturnal "Psalms" (1835-37), the comedy "No Love for Play" (1834), and the play "Lorenzaccio" (1834). In addition, the full-length novel "The Confession of a Child of the Century" (1836), written as a financial statement of this love affair, is an important document for understanding the psychology of young people in the first half of the 19th century, as it serves as a diagnosis of the so-called "century disease." Musset was the most classical poet of the Romantic period, and even attempted to write a classical tragedy for the actress Rachelle, but due to poor health and the dissoluteness of his youth, his body and mind rapidly deteriorated as soon as he reached his thirties, and in his later years he wrote only two exquisite collections of short stories, including Mimi Pinçon (1845), which became a prototype of the working girls known as grisettes who began to appear on the streets of Paris, and several plays.
