Cirta

...The Numidian dynasty cooperated militarily with Rome in its conquest of the Mediterranean (mainly by providing cavalry), while encroaching on Carthaginian territory. It aimed to break away from tribal chiefdom by expanding its territories, controlling Punic cities within the country, and interacting with the Greek world. A huge royal mausoleum remains near the capital, Cirta (now Constantine), and minted coins bearing the king's name have been excavated in various places. The Punic language was widely used.
