An Uzbek state centered in Khoqand in Central Asia. 1710-1876. It began in the early 18th century when Shah Rukh, a Min Uzbek, established an independent government with Khoqand, then part of the Bukhara Khanate, as its capital. In the late 18th century, it controlled the entire Fergana Basin and became a nominal tributary state of the Qing dynasty. In the first half of the 19th century, it gained territory from Tashkent in the north to the lower Syr Darya basin and the upper Amu Darya basin in the south, and reached its heyday with active trade with Xinjiang.
