Chronique des Pasquier (English)

...Winner of the Prix Goncourt Prize, his novels are written in which he fiercely denounces modern mechanical civilization and materialism. His anti-modern view of humanity and the world, based on anti-standardism and moderate humanism, is quietly expressed in the five-volume series The Life and Adventures of Sarabant (1920-32), which focuses on the lifestyles of individuals, and in the ten-volume series Chronique des Pasquier (1933-45), which focuses on the ups and downs of a family. His character as a gentle humanist can also be seen in works such as The Wanderings of Patrice Périllo (1950), which depicts the anguish of not being able to adapt to the radical ideas of Aragon and others.
