A mountain range on the border between Germany and the Czech Republic. In Czech, it is called Kršné Hory. It is a 130 km long, 800-900 m high plateau made of gneiss, mica schist, and granite. The highest peaks are Fichtelberg (1214 m) and Klínovec (1244 m) on the Czech side. In the Middle Ages, it prospered mainly from silver mining, and is rich in copper, zinc, uranium, cobalt, and other minerals.
