Danrin Toppyakuin

Japanese:
Danrin Toppyakuin
A collection of renga (linked verse) haikai poems. Its correct title is Edo Haikai Danrin Juhyakukin. It was compiled by Shoui and published in 1675 (Enpo 3). Nine members of the Edo Danrin (Danrin), Setsai, Saishiki, Ittetsu, Masatomo, Shikei, Itcho, Shoukiyu, Bokuseki, and Shoui, performed a chant with Soin's poem "So here is the Danrin tree with plum blossoms" at the beginning of the book. One Hundred Poems Volume. Thanks to Soin's opening verse and his eccentric haiku style called "Tobitei," the haiku suddenly became known as "Nagasaki in the west, Sendai in the east" (Zaisho "Akatsukimiki").
