Blast furnace cement

Blast furnace cement: a mixed cement made by mixing Portland cement with granulated blast furnace slag powder. Granulated blast furnace slag is a glassy material made by quenching molten slag with water, and is composed mainly of quicklime CaO, silica SiO ₂ , and alumina Al ₂ O _3. It does not harden on its own, but when mixed with hydrated lime, gypsum, Portland cement, etc., it becomes hydraulic (latent hydraulic).
