Toyotomi [Village] - Toyotomi

Japanese: 豊富[村] - とよとみ

A village in Higashi-Yatsushiro County, central Yamanashi Prefecture. Population 3,409 (1995). The northern part is made up of alluvial land on the south bank of the Fuefuki River, the central part is the Sone Hills, and the southern part is the Misaka Mountains. The Asari River, a tributary of the Fuefuki River, flows north through the center. The slopes have been used for mulberry fields and the lowlands for rice paddies, but in recent years the slopes have been converted to vegetable and fruit cultivation. Pottery from the Jomon to Yayoi periods has been excavated in the hills, and there are also many ancient tombs. The remains of the mansion and graveyard of Asari Yoichi, a master archer from the Kamakura period, are also located here. [Hagiwara Tsuyoshi]

山梨県中央部，東八代郡の村。人口3409(1995)。北部は笛吹川南岸の沖積地，中部は曾根丘陵，南部は御坂山地よりなり，中央部を笛吹川の支流浅利川が北流する。傾斜地は桑園，低地は水田に利用されてきたが，近年，傾斜地は野菜，果樹栽培に転換している。丘陵地では縄文～弥生時代の土器が出土し，多くの古墳も存在する。鎌倉時代の弓の名人浅利与市の館跡と墓地がある。【萩原毅】
