...After 1860, art schools and art galleries were established in Iasi and Bucharest, and exhibitions began to be held regularly. Theodor Aman (1831-91), who founded the art school in Bucharest, studied in Paris. He was an expert in genre paintings, portraits, and especially patriotic historical paintings, and had a great influence on the Romanian art world.
