…Two German artist brothers from the Baroque period. Educated by their father Hans Georg, a ceiling painter, they further studied Italian Baroque art at the Academy in Rome. After that, they worked together in their hometown of Bavaria, producing architecture, with the elder brother Cosmas Damian Asam (1686-1739) focusing on oil painting and frescoes, and the younger brother Egid Quirin Asam (1692-1750) focusing on sculpture and stucco work. They used their highly skilled craftsmanship to create works that combined painting, sculpture, and architecture, which crystallized in the creation of particularly fantastic religious spaces. …
