Anaspides tasmaniae

...The telson segment, together with the tail limbs, forms a tail fan, but some have forked telson segments, indicating that they are members of the subclass Malacostraca, while still retaining a primitive shape. The superorder Protodea originally contained only the order Anaspida, which consisted of fossil species from Palaeozoic strata, but in 1892, a living species , Anaspides tasmaniae , about 5 cm long, was discovered, living in the pools of mountain streams in Tasmania (about 1,200 m). Anaspidae are large, measuring 1 to 5 cm in length, and have eyes.
