All-India States' Peoples Conference

The common language of the inhabitants was Malayalam. In December 1927, nationalists from British India joined in and the All-India States' Peoples Conference was founded, under whose leadership a movement for democratic government was launched in both princely states. When India gained independence in August 1947, the princes of both states announced their intention to join India, and they were smoothly annexed.
