Aksakov, KS (English spelling) AksakovKS

...Son of ST Aksakov. His elder brother, Konstantin Sergeevich Aksakov (1817-60), was a Slavophile thinker and man of letters. He idealized the mutually inviolable coexistence of the two parties, with the motto "Power to the Tsar, Speech to the People (Narod)." In his memorial to Alexander II, "Russia's Internal Affairs" (1855), he accepted the continuation of the autocratic state system from the standpoint of political power as a necessary evil, but called for the restoration of the organic unity of the country (Zemlya) based on the principle of the autonomous community of the people (=peasants). He also proposed the establishment of a national parliament (Zemsky Sobor) as an advisory body to the Tsar to guarantee the coexistence of power and the people, and called for the people to be given freedom of speech as a prerequisite.
