Akademgorodok

...Currently, machine manufacturing and metallurgy account for 65% of industrial production, and construction materials, food, textiles, and leather products are also produced. In 1957, the academic city of Akademgorodok was established in the dense forest on the outskirts of the city, and about 30 research institutes of the Siberian branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR were established there, making it an international center of academic research. In addition to the university, there are also universities of electrical engineering, railway engineering, economics, medicine, education, and trade.
