1486‐1535 German thinker. His real name was Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa. He was nicknamed Nettesheim, a village near Cologne, where his family was born. The Renaissance produced many universal geniuses or universal men, and he lived up to his name with a career and achievements that were worthy of his name. He studied at the University of Cologne, and at a young age became a courtier to Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I. He later served as physician to the House of Savoy and taught philosophy at the University of Dor and the University of Pavia. He served as a military advisor in Spain and Italy.
